SVT-AV1-PSY is developed and maintained by a small team of talented developers as a passion project to make modern video encoding better for everyone. The project is maintained by Gianni Rosato and features primary contributors Julio Barba, BlueSwordM, and Clybius. The fork started as an effort to integrate Julio's Variance Boost Adaptive Quantization patch into SVT-AV1 before the mainline project accepted the patch. This initial development saw great excitement from the community, and since then our development cycle has allowed us to bring a boutique featureset of perceptual changes to AV1 encoding at our own pace.

SVT-AV1-PSY is developed entirely on donated time. The core development team has poured hours into programming, testing, distributing, and supporting this piece of open-source software entirely for free, and our work isn't stopping any time soon.
