SVT-AV1-PSY is a software video encoder born from the SVT-AV1 project. Our encoder is designed for optimal perceptual fidelity; we have optimized heavily around pleasing the human visual system, and we aim to provide the best perceptual fidelity available in any AV1 video encoder across a wide quality spectrum.
Video Encoding
Taking human visual preferences into account in our design has proven difficult, but the results are inspiring. Our video encoder is the best in the industry for AV1, and even competes with encoders for newer standards like VVC (H.266).
Image Compression
In addition to video encoding, SVT-AV1-PSY also supports class-leading AVIF compression. Building on our existing technical supremacy in video contexts, we have been able to produce a powerful AVIF encoder competitive with industry standard AVIF & JPEG-XL encoders.
